Minister: "We haven’t imposed any restriction on our athletes due to coronavirus"

"Currently we haven’t imposed any restriction on our athletes’ participation in any competition due to coronavirus", said Azerbaijan’s Youth and Sport Minister Azad Rahimov in his statement to journalists, APA reports.

He said they together with the sports federations have adopted a decision regarding the countries where the coronavirus threat is observed: "Today, some countries impose such restrictions. For example, we can mention Italy in this regard. Currently, all competitions have been cancelled in Italy". 

The minister stressed that they are trying to get acquainted with the existing situation as of today and to protect the athletes: "As you know, after 5 months, the Tokio-2020 Olympic Games will be held. Our main purpose is to protect the athletes for these competitions".
