The world opened this morning with the terrorist attack on Azerbaijan's embassy in Iran. A person armed with a Kalashnikov assault rifle attacked the Azerbaijani embassy, killed the head of the security service, and injured two others. The terrorist was neutralized by another employee of the security service of the embassy.
What the Iranian side did was that Tehran's police chief Hossein Rahimi, who made a hasty statement after the attack, tried to distort the motive of the incident. He falsely said that the perpetrator of the incident came to the embassy with two children, and the attack took place on a family-household basis.
But the camera footage exposed his lie. It is clear from the footage that the person came alone in front of the embassy, got out of the car, entered the embassy building with a gun, and started shooting. It is also clear from the camera footage that when the terrorist entered the building, he pointed something with his hand at the Iranian police on duty, and the police did not react at all, and even after the terrorist entered the building, he followed him into the building and did nothing. There are no children or anyone else in the images. At least these facts are enough to expose the lies of Tehran's police chief.
It was announced that the person who committed the incident was an Iranian citizen named Yasin Huseynzade. There are suspicions that he is connected to Iran's special services, especially the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
Most likely, if the employee of the Azerbaijani embassy neutralized the terrorist and did not catch him, the scale of the tragedy would have been greater, and all the embassy employees would have been killed.
After the terrorist committed the incident, he would leave with a wave of his hands and arms, and the Iranian state would openly announce that he was wanted, and secretly announce him as a hero for successfully completing the task. However, it was not possible to carry out the planned massacre thanks to the dedication of the employee of the Azerbaijani embassy.
The Iranian side's attempts to dress up the incident in domestic clothes in the statements made at various levels further strengthen the mentioned arguments.
Tehran is trying to distort the essence of the incident by spreading various fake news and statements from the moment the incident happened in order to avoid the responsibility of terrorism. However, all of these are lies, Iran aims to distract the terrorist from the target, who is connected to Iran's special services, and to create a wrong opinion in the local and international community.
Another lie spread by Iran to distort the essence of the event is allegedly related to the attack by a person with an Armenian identity. Yashin Huseynzade is an Iranian citizen. His first and last names show that he is not of Armenian origin.
Despite all attempts by Iran, it is already clear that the purpose of this treacherous attack is a terrorist action against the Azerbaijani embassy and diplomats. Moreover, Iranian police have not taken any steps to prevent the occurrence of terrorism.
However, the official Tehran forgets that regardless of the motive, it is responsible for the attack on the embassy. Since ensuring the security of our diplomatic missions in foreign countries is the responsibility of the host country. Iran not only ignores this obligation but also creates conditions for attacks on diplomatic missions. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan said in its statement about the incident that, as the country where the embassy is located, the Iranian side had to fulfill its obligation to ensure the protection of the embassy and the safety of its employees arising from the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.
“There have been attempts to threaten our diplomatic mission in Iran before and the issues of undertaking measures to prevent such situations and ensure the security of our diplomatic missions have been constantly raised before Iran. Unfortunately, the last bloody terrorist attack demonstrates the serious consequences of not showing proper sensitivity to our persistent calls in this regard.
We consider that the recent anti-Azerbaijani campaign carried out against our country in Iran has encouraged such attacks against our diplomatic mission,” it was noted in MFA’s statement.
The next similar event happened in 2016. In Iran, the buildings of Saudi Arabia's embassy in Tehran and consulate in Mashhad were set on fire by a radical crowd.
Iran is known to the whole world for always supporting terrorism. If we look at history, we can see many facts related to attacks on embassies, consulates, international missions, and foreign citizens in Iran. Iran's history is rich with terrorist attitudes towards foreign diplomats and diplomatic missions. On January 30, 1829, Tehranians attacked the embassy of Tsarist Russia in Iran and killed the ambassador, the famous Russian writer Alexander Griboyedov, and 35 Cossacks guarding the embassy.
Griboyedov's body was rendered unrecognizable.
In 1979, in Iran, a group of students calling themselves "Imam Khomeini's Roadrunners" attacked the US embassy in Tehran, took 53 Americans hostage and held them hostage for 444 days.
In 2011, hundreds of students attacked the British embassy in Iran, seized the embassy building, broke windows and looted the embassy.
The next similar event happened in 2016. In Iran, the buildings of Saudi Arabia's embassy in Tehran and consulate in Mashhad were set on fire by a radical crowd.
Following all of these, an armed attack on the Azerbaijani embassy today gives reason to say that there is no guarantee of the inviolability of any embassy or diplomatic mission in Iran.
Another issue that does not raise doubts is that Iran will not objectively investigate the terrorist attack. Statements of the chief of the Tehran police, as well as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran, can be considered an announcement that this will be named like that. It can be said with certainty that Iran, which spread false information and statements one after another in order to cover up terrorism, protect the terrorist, and distort the essence of terrorism since the incident, will not objectively investigate this treacherous attack.
