Presidents of Russia and Iran Vladimir Putin and Hassan Rouhani discussed the situation in Idlib, saying the need for the full implementation of the Astana accords, APA reports citing RIA Novosti.

This was reported by the Kremlin press service.

It is noted that the presidents substantively examined the situation in Syria in the context of increasing tension in the Idlib de-escalation zone.

“A common opinion was expressed on the need for the full implementation of the agreements reached in the Astana format, concerning, above all, the fight against terrorists - with respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Syria,” the Kremlin said.

The parties also discussed the situation around the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action for the Iranian Nuclear Program (JCPOA). The leaders of Russia and Iran noted the importance of maintaining an agreement, which is a significant factor in maintaining international security.

Earlier, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan during a telephone conversation, declared Rouhani support for political dialogue on Syria.
