Since 2020, 89 mosques and about 650 places of worship have been closes in France, Rauf Mammadov, an employee of the Institute of Oriental Studies of ANAS, said during the plenary session entitled "Islamophobia in France" at the international conference dedicated to the International Day of Combating Islamophobia "Islamophobia as a Specific Form of Racism and Discrimination: New Global and Transnational Challenges", APA reports.

“French government, starting from 1989, started to establish their communities in the French cities with large Muslim population. It was part of restriction policy. In the following years, such laws were adopted in France which recognized the faith of all religious people, but Muslims,” he added.
