Sefura Alizadeh to represent Azerbaijan at Eurovision - PHOTOSESSION
The name of representative of Azerbaijan at Eurovision-2010 has been revealed at the national final concert held in Buta Palace today. Three finalists - Safura Alizadeh, Maryam Shabanova, Milk&Kisses group struggled for the participation of Azerbaijan at the 55th Eurovision Song Contest.
Media representatives were not allowed to enter the concert hall held at Buta Palace for nearly an hour, being left behind the closed doors, APA reported. As in semifinal concert, the final concert was also followed by disrespectful actions against the journalists. Even security staff afforded themselves to use abusive language against the local media. After a while the organizers of concert remembered at last the media reps and let them enter the hall. During the national final concert to select the representative of Azerbaijan at Eurovision-2010 the attendees were observing the event on foot. Though there were some VIP rooms for special guests, local media representatives joined the event to highlight from the spot had no chance but to sit and work on their notebooks.
Even camera-men and photographers were neither satisfied with the condition of broadcasting. Media reps and guests also expressed their dissatisfaction with the current situation in the hall.
Beginning 25 minutes later than it’s expected the national final concert began with “Sari gelin†(“Yellow Brideâ€). Accompanying this song was “Fairytale†which won Eurovision-2009 and followed by interesting dances. Announcers of the concert were Ilham Qasimov and Husniyye Maharromova who was also presenting semifinal concert at the same place.
First off all, Dakota from Fabrika zvezd (Russia) was invited to the stage who performed her best hits to the audience. She noted Azerbaijan is the best and will support Azerbaijan’s representative till the end.
Sefura Alizadeh performed the songs “Drip drop†and “Under my Skin†written by foreign composers. With her black and short cloth Safura sang her song adding special performance to it.
“Milk and Kisses†group performed only three songs – “Drip Dropâ€, “Under my Skin†and “Soulless†which was supported by stormy applause of the official Eurovision fan-club “OGAE Azerbaijanâ€. They also showed amazing performance to the audience.
The third candidate Maryam Shabanova presented also “Under my Skinâ€, “Drip Drop†and “Soulless†in front of the audience and the juries.
It must be noted that the songs written by foreign composers were not containing national features of Azerbaijan music.
After the performances over six juries observing the final concert left the concert hall to make their final decision. Then special guest of the event representative of Georgia at Eurovision-2010 Sofo Niajardze was invited to the stage.
She performed her song “Shine†which she will sing at Eurovision-2010, for the first time in front of Azerbaijani spectators. She was welcomed by stormy applauses.
Furthermore, the representative of Azerbaijan at Eurovision-2009 Aysel Teymurzadeh performed the Azeri version of her new song “Fallin.â€
Our representative and song to be performed was selected by the members of jury- Azerbaijan Public Television General director Ismayil Omerov, rector of Baku’s Music Academy Farhad Badalbayli, director of Azerbaijan State Philharmonic Hall Murad Adigozelzadeh, president of national music committee of International Music Council (IMC) Lale Kazimova, conductor Azad Aliyev, Culture and Tourism Ministry’s representative Manzar Nureliyeva, as well as representative of Ministry of Youth and Sport Farhad Hajiyev. Although Ferhad Bedelbeyli dismissed the final concert, he voted via the phone.
Azerbaijan’s national final concert was lively broadcasted by Azerbaijan Public Television-National transmission council of Azerbaijan under“Eurovision†contest, as well as TRT Turkish and Georgia Public Television. General Director of Georgia Public Television Gia Cantirya was also through the guests of the national final concert.
