He said Azerbaijan’s annual demand for cement is 2.5m metric tons, but the demand jumped this year due to construction of new bridges and roads.
“Domestic production supplies only half of the demand. In total 940 000 metric tons of cement were imported during the past eight months, and plus, 130 tons were imported in September and October, he said.
Mr. Aliyev stated that Russian Avrocement reduced cement imports to Azerbaijan because of high demand high demand in Russia. Iran also suspended cement imports.
“Some think it is an artificial rise caused by customs service. But, in fact the cement imports are cheaper than the domestic cement, he said.
He also touched upon grain price rise, saying the increase is caused by production fall in Russia.
“Grain production fell by 10% in Russia and the price per cubic meter rose by 15-20 euros. Azerbaijan imported 60 000 cubic meters of grain in a months, but the imports reduced by 60% in September, he insisted.
Aydin Aliyev also said Azerbaijan can’t avoid the price rise in the world market. /APA/
