Italy's own renowned designer Giorgio Armani has donated €1.25 million EUR in an effort to combat the outbreak, APA reports.

The generous donation — equating to roughly $1.43 million USD — was made by the designer through his fashion group to four different hospitals across the nation (three in Milan), as well as the Civil Protection Agency. The group itself raked in revenues of €2.1 billion EUR in 2018 alone.

The Lombardy regional crisis response unit’s chief Antonio Pesenti said earlier that the region’s health system was “a step away from collapse” as more and more cases arise, putting increasing pressure on the health system’s infrastructure.
