279 people infected with measles and 11,301 with chickenpox in Azerbaijan this year

52 people were infected with measles in Azerbaijan last year, State Statistics Committee told APA.

According to the information, 35 of them were male, 17 female, and 10 people were individuals aged 0-17 years. Moreover chickenpox was recorded in 15870 people in 2018. 8517 of them were male, 7353 female and 13780 were people 0-17 age group.

The Committee also informed on statistics of this year. Noted that in January-June of this year, 279 people were infected with measles. 140 of them were men, 139 were women, and 62 were under the age of 17. Moreover, chickenpox was recorded in 11 301 people in the first 6 months of 2019. 6089 of the patients were men, 5212 were women, and 9543 were under 17.

According to the information of the Ministry of Health, 2 persons (one of them was a boy, and another one is girl), died from chickenpox in the previous year in the country. However, death cases from measles have not been recorded.
