“Call center of Food Safety Agency of Azerbaijan received 19 944 applications last year,” the chairman of Food Safety Agency of Azerbaijan Goshgar Tehmezli said in the press conference dedicated to the results of 2019.
According to him, 2291 calls (11%) were on cases of violation of consumer rights, 480 calls (2,4%) on food poisoning, 89 calls (0.5%) on Brucellosis disease, 39 calls (0.3%) on anthrax disease, and 26 calls (0,1%) were on tuberculosis disease: “ Ministry of Health and Prosecutor General’s Office of Azerbaijan has received 482 emergency notices and information on food poisoning and other foodborne diseases. As a result of investigations 208 poisoning cases have been confirmed based on 482 notices and information, however 274 notices have not been confirmed. On the basis of the applications 987 sufferers have been registered. Of these, only 585 people have been clinically confirmed by food poisoning. Confirmed food poisoning facts mostly has occurred in domestic situations, which made up 87.7%.”
