AFSA imposes temporary restriction on import of live poultry and chicken products from 9 countries

The Food Safety Agency of Azerbaijan Republic (AFSA) has disseminated the information regarding the measures taken in order to protect the country from infectious animal diseases which can pass over to the territory of the country from other countries, the AFSA told APA.

The World Animal Health Organization has detected highly pathogenic bird flu disease in Chhattisgarh region of India, Nitrianske and Trnavske regions of Slovakia, Maramures region of Romania, Hajdu-Bihar and Komarom-Esztergom regions of Hungary, Nijnesilezsk and Zapadno-Pomorsk regions of Poland, Vinnitsa region of Ukraine, Vysocina region of Czech Republic and Brandenburg region of Germany, and Newcastle disease in Kursk oblast of Russian Federation. In this regard, it has been decided to impose temporary restriction on import to our country of live poultry and chicken products from those regions of the countries where highly pathogenic bird flu and Newcastle diseases were recorded.

At the same time, with the purpose of strengthening of the control measures, an appeal has been made to the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan Republic for taking relevant measures according to legislature at the customs border crossing points in regard to the vehicles coming to our country from the above-mentioned territories or having passed by transit through the mentioned territories.
