Assistance provided to Azerbaijani seamen facing difficulty in Mauritania

A group of 4 seamen consisting of citizens of the Azerbaijan Republic invited by a foreign company providing the seamen with jobs and functioning in the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, but facing serious difficulty, has addressed an appeal to Azerbaijan’s embassy to the Kingdom of Morocco in connection with the existing problems, the head of press service of the State Maritime Agency Tural Museyibov told APA.

The appeal was immediately responded and the State Maritime Agency contacted the seamen, the important steps have been taken in the area of the solution of the seamen’s problems, their hotel and other expenses have been paid, the provision of necessary assistance has been ensured.

State Maritime Agency jointly Azerbaijani MFA, State Committee on Work with Diaspora of the Republic of Azerbaijan by regularly contacting with sailors are taken the relevant measures in order to eliminate their problems.

Implementation of special quarantine regime in Islamic Republic of Mauritania and the Republic of Azerbaijan in connection with coronavirus pandemic, taking into account the impossibility of return of sailors to motherland due to closure of borders, ban of entry and exit, necessary effective steps are being taken in order to solve their daily problems and difficulties, all material needs are met.

Note that after the quarantine regime ends at the first opportunity the return of sailors to the motherland will be ensured.
