“The penitentiary institutions have switched over to the enhanced working mode due to coronavirus, the meetings with citizens have been suspended, the prisoners have been provided with medical equipment. All these measures are aimed at prevention of infection”, said Aynur Sabitova, head of Human rights and public relations department of the Ministry of Justice at online press conference of the ministry, APA reports.
He said that by the pardoning order signed by President Ilham Aliyev 176 prisoners over 65 years old who has risk to contract virus have been released: “As a manifestation of humanism policy 260 prisoners have been released early on parole.”
