Azerbaijan ranks in the second place for violation of gender ratio

“Demographic analyses show that the gender ratio of born children (number of boys per every 100 girls) makes up 105-107 in accordance with the biological norm. An increase of boys is observed in gender structure of born-alive children in Azerbaijan from the beginning of 1990 and currently, the ratio is 114 boys per every 100 girls,” APA reports.

It has been reflected in the “Annual information of executive power body, conducting control on the provision of gender equality”, which will be presented at the meeting of the Parliament tomorrow for the first time.

The document reads that Azerbaijan has ranked in the second place for violation of gender ratio in the world: “Violation of gender ratio of born children also changes the gender structure of the total population. According to the information of population censuses, there were 1051 women is per every 1000 men in 1989, 1048 women in 1999, 1021 men in 2019.

There are 1003 women per 1000 men in the country today. Unfortunately, according to the results of conducted sociological surveys, 49.5% of men, 22.5% of women still accepts girl children as a financial burden”
