Azerbaijan to start plasma sampling from patients recovered from COVID-19

"A project has been launched in against disposing medical masks and gloves used by individuals in public life," said Ramin Bayramli, chairman of Board of TABIB at the event held on the initiative of the World Health Organization with the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, the State Agency for Compulsory Medical Insurance, MEDICINE and the Ministry of Health in connection with the launch of the REACT-S19 project, APA reports.

R. Bayramli said a waste treatment and disposal project is being carried out on the instruction of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources and Task Force under the Cabinet of Ministers: “Currently, disposed of medical masks are not medical waste, but just waste. Medical waste is waste used by patients who have been confirmed to be infected with the coronavirus.”

He noted people, recovered from coronavirus will be invited to National Hematology and Transfusion Center starting from next week: “Works will be conducted thanks to the use of plasma taken from them. There are antibodies in the plasma of recovered people. If there are enough antibodies for COVID-19, we will be able to transfer them to patients with a severe conditions.”
