“In many cases, we hear complaints from people who infected with COVID-19 and recovered about persistent symptoms over some period of time. Namely, because it is persistent for a long time, it is mentioned as Long-COVID symptoms in scientific literature in many cases,” Chairman of the German-Azerbaijani Society of Radiology and Neuroradiology, Doctor of Medical Sciences, University of Cologne, Azerbaijani scientist Nuran Abdullayev told APA.

According to him, there are scientific reasons for the persistence of symptoms.

“One of the reasons for the persistence of these symptoms is that when the virus stays in any part of the body - for example, the intestines, one of the places where it can stay for a long time - it activates the immune system, albeit weakly. It means that it tries to remove the virus from the body and a person feels chronically tired, bored, exhausted, and in some cases sick for days. So, as I mentioned before, if we can seriously support our immunity with a single blow, we can achieve to remove the remaining virus from the body completely, and this is getting rid of the frustrating "Long-COVID" symptoms. Currently, the most effective support to the immunity in this way is the vaccines that after the application of them, It is possible to get rid of these "Long-COVID" symptoms that last a long time and make a person tired".
