The world is faced with a new dangerous virus. The number of coronaviruses infected in China has already exceeded 830, and the death toll from this virus is more than 26, APA reports.

Entry and exit are restricted in nine cities in the Chinese province of Hubei, where an outbreak of coronavirus is recorded. After Wuhan, entry-exit was restricted in the cities of Ezhou, Huangang, Xiantao, Zhejiang, Qianjiang, Huangshi, Enshi, and Xianning.

Is Azerbaijan ready to fight this terrible virus?

Currently, Azerbaijan Airlines CJSC (AZAL) operates flights from Baku twice a week (days II and VII) to the capital of China, Beijing and two times (days III and VII) to Guangzhou. Therefore, we studied whether there is a danger of the spread of the virus in Azerbaijan.

Ministry of Health: There are special wards for seriously ill patients, all preparatory work has been carried out

In an interview with APA, Head of the Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance Department of the Ministry of Health Viktor Gasimov noted that the sanitary and epidemiological situation in Azerbaijan is stable and there are no outbreaks of any disease: “The threat of viruses always exists for every country. Because borders are open, people make trips, anything can be. The epidemiological surveillance system just needs to work well to prevent this. Not only the coronavirus is terrifying, but there are also other viruses. The Institute of Pulmonary Diseases has special wards for seriously ill patients; all preparatory work has been carried out."

He noted that currently in Azerbaijan, as in all European countries, a seasonal influenza virus is spread. As for the coronavirus, in this regard, everything is calm in the country.

In order not to get infected with viruses, the head of the sector advised the population to wash their hands more often, in case of illness, consult a doctor, not go to work, use masks.

Border and customs checkpoints set to work in an enhanced mode

Natig Akhundov, head of the State Customs Committee’s press service, told APA that at the border and customs checkpoints, a health check is being carried out in intensive mode by using devices (thermal imagers) used to measure temperature, a medical examination, a visual examination and other diagnostic methods to identify physical the condition of people with symptoms such as cough, weakness, fever, catarrh of the upper respiratory tract, etc.

N. Akhundov also added that in accordance with the medical part of the “general declaration” document adopted by the Civil Aviation Organization, it is required to submit information on health control to the customs authority.

Recall that a few days ago the Ministry of Health of Azerbaijan warned the population of an outbreak of pneumonia caused by the recently spread coronavirus in China. The World Health Organization (WHO) and the Ministry urge citizens to be careful when traveling abroad.
