“The initiative of planting 650 thousand trees during one day on occasion of 650th anniversary of Nasimi was a demonstration of solidarity between Azerbaijanis. According to the information received by us, the number of the planted trees have exceeded 650 thousand", said at the press conference Firdovsi Aliyev, the Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources, APA reports.
He stated that 37 species of trees were planted in over 80 regions during the tree planting action: "The employees of SOCAR company have planted 100 thousand trees. Even 12 thousand trees have been sent by ship to Chilov island for being planted there. Planting 650 thousand trees in one day is an initiative that serves today’s and future generations. Tree saplings that are distributed to the regions have been chosen according to the climatic conditions. It means that the choice was not only made for the sake of tree planting. The main point is that there should be constant attention and care to these trees.”
Note that, planting 650 thousand trees in a day will positively impact to increase green space in our country, reduce the effects of global climate change, as well as absorption of carbon dioxide.
