Based on the received information regarding the regular taking out of the country through smuggling of the large quantity of tobacco products by means of trains and trucks crossing the state border of the Azerbaijan Republic, the joint investigation has been conducted by the State Security Service and the State Customs Committee of the Azerbaijan Republic, APA reports citing the received joint information of the State Security Service and the State Customs Committee.
As a result of the completed operational and investigative measures a truck of “Mercedes” brand with official number plate of 40-BL-400 released for exit from the border after passing the general customs procedural examination at Samur Customs station situated on territory of Azerbaijan’s Gusar region has been detained. During visual examination of that vehicle, the tobacco products weighing 15 tons and manufactured in a foreign country, packaged in boxes of other product and declared to the customs control service under different title were detected and confiscated.
The citizens of the Azerbaijan Republic – the deputy head of the North Territorial Main Customs Department of the State Customs Committee Huseynov Emin Almardan, Huseynov Kerim Ahmadagha and Aliyev Ramin Mehdi have been brought to account over the criminal case held on the basis of clause 206 (smuggling) of the Criminal Code of the Azerbaijan Republic at the State Security Service in regard to the above-mentioned fact, and the pre-trial measure in the form of remand in custody for the period of 4 months has been chosen in regard to them by the court’s decision.
Currently, the investigation is being continued.
