Food safety stations to be established on border in Azerbaijan

Delegation, led by Deputy Chairman of the Food Safety Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan (AFSA) Rufat Rustamzade has visited Lithuania and Latvia Republics, AFSA told APA.

On the sidelines of the visit Deputy Chairman has met with heads of Food and Veterinary Services of Lithuania and Latvia. The meetings have also been attended by the representatives of Azerbaijani Embassies to these countries. AFSA’s Deputy Chairman R. Rustamzade broadly informed on the Agency’s activity directions and measures, taken in food safety field in Azerbaijan recently. He noted that food safety stations will be established nearby border crossing checkpoints of Azerbaijan until end of the year. It has been noted that AFSA will implement international experience in border crossing checkpoints.

Broad exchange of views has been held on the establishment of food safety stations in the meetings. Development prospects of future cooperation in food safety field have been discussed.

In the framework of the visit Azerbaijani Delegation has reviewed border checkpoints of Vilnius Airport of Lithuania, Lithuania’s checkpoints of automobile road with Belarus in Medininkai and railroad with Belarus in Kena, as well as Latvia’s checkpoints of automobile road with Belarus in Paternieki and with Russia in Terehova, and got acknowledged with experience of this field in the site.
