“The medical masks are used wrongly in 95 percent of cases. And this poses even more risk”, said Hande Harmanci, the representative of the World Health Organization (WHO) in Azerbaijan, APA reports.

She said at the beginning of the epidemic, the WHO prepared recommendations regarding use of protective equipment including masks and gloves: “The first recommendation said that the masks should be worn by sick people. The wearing of mask by a healthy person doesn’t protect him from the virus. Currently, the situation is changeable. There are also the asymptomatic coronavirus cases, therefore in some countries the people are recommended to wear masks and gloves. But when wearing a mask and gloves, special attention should be paid to taking them off and disposing them. In many cases, the massive use of gloves by people becomes more dangerous because the people wearing gloves think they are already protected, and they don’t wash their hands. The frequent washing of hands protects people better than the gloves. The medical masks are used wrongly in 95 percent of cases. The wrong taking off of the mask causes infection with the virus”.
