Head of State: "Azerbaijan implements plan to remove special quarantine regime in stages"

"Taking into account the decline in the rate of virus infection among the population, the dynamics of recovery of patients, the plan to remove the special quarantine regime is being implemented in stages," said the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev at the Summit of the NAM's Contact Group which held through videoconference under the motto "United against COVID-19" focused on the fight against coronavirus pandemic, APA reports.

Head of State noted although special quarantine regime has been extended until May 31 in the country, some applied restrictions are softened since April 27 and May 4: “A social, economic assistance packet of more than AZN 3.5 billion or more than USD 2 billion has been adopted for provision of economic stability, solution problems regarding employment, and insurance of macroeconomic and financial stability. Salaries of more than 900 thousand employees, in total, on the public sector are kept at full volume, while a major part of salaries of 690 thousand employees on the non-public sector is paid by the state.

Alongside this the fund is paid to 600 thousand low income, unemployed, and informally employed citizens in accordance with subsistence level for two months. It is planned to establish 90 thousand paid public workplaces until the end of the year for the social protection of unemployed persons. State guarantee will be given to 60 percent of new loans given by banks to entrepreneurs. Taxpayers on the field of activities directly affected by the pandemic will be given tax concession and tax breaks for the period until January 1, 2021. All of these are just a part of the steps taken.”

President Ilham Aliyev stressed that the measures taken by the state are highly appreciated by the citizens.
