A statement has been released by the National Hydrometeorology Department of Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources on the weather condition, observed in the country, APA reports.

Director of the Department Umayra Tagiyeva stated that winter is going to end, but minus degrees have not recorded in Baku even in the nights: “As a result of climate changes, number of abnormal cases has increased in the world. The tendency is observed in recent years, but obviously reflects itself especially in Azerbaijan and many European countries during this winter. For example, in Mediterranean countries 24-27 degrees of heat - really spring weather is observed. Temperature of weather is 6 degrees more than climate normal in Baku and 14-17 degrees of heat is expected in the following 2 days, temperature will reach 20 degrees in desert zones in the background of southwest wind.”

U. Tagiyeva noted that after long-lasted abnormal warm weather condition, cold arctic air masses will come to the country. Dominance of northwest wind in Baku from evening of February 7 and increase of the speed of wind up to 30-35 m/s in the morning of February 8 are expected. Rain, in some places sleet and snow will fall as weather temperature drops on February 9. Roads will be icy especially in mountainous areas.
