The V congress of Azerbaijan’s Russian Community (ARC) was held on December 14 at central headquarters of New Azerbaijan Party (NAP), APA reports.
The Congress was attended by Maharram Ahmadov, Deputy Head of Humanitarian Policy, Diaspora, Multiculturalism and Religious Affairs Department of Presidential Administration of Azerbaijan Republic, the members of the Azerbaijani Parliament Arif Rahimzade and Ali Huseynli, Ambassador of Russian Federation to Azerbaijan Mikhail Bocharnikov, Deputy Head of Department of Interregional and Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries under President of Russian Federation Anton Rybakov, member of the Russian State Duma Dmitri Savelyev, Archbishop of Azerbaijan and Baku Episcopate His Grace Alexander and other guests.
The congress has been opened by the Chairman of the Azerbaijan-Russian Community, Deputy of Azerbaijani Parliament Michael Zabelin.
He noted report-election gatherings have been held in all of city and region organizations of the Community on the eve of the V congress, and 280 representatives have been elected for Azerbaijan-Russian Community.
A report on the activity of the Community during passing period of time has been heard in the Congress, new staff and management of the Republic Council of the Community have been elected.
M. Zabelin has unanimously been elected as a Chairman of the Community for the next 5 years.
