Ministry of Health discloses process of treatment at home of citizens infected with coronavirus

The process of treatment at home of the citizens infected with COVID-19 virus has been disclosed by the Ministry of Health, the press service of the ministry told APA.

In her another online interview, the head of the Main Health Department Nelli Veysova talked in a detailed way about the process of treatment at home by the Ministry of Health of the Azerbaijan Republic of the citizens infected with COVID-19 virus.

N. Veysova said when the suspicion of infection arises, the first step is to appeal to policlinics by phone call. Immediately after that, the area doctor collects information for the evaluation of the patient’s condition in the course of the inquiry. Only on the basis of decision of that doctor, a medical worker is sent to the address of the citizen who appealed with suspicion of infection in order to carry out COVID-19 test.

The result of the test is informed to the citizen by SMS message within one-three days, and during that period, the condition of the person who appealed with suspicion of infection with the COVID-19 virus is tracked by the area doctor.

If the result of test is positive, these persons are registered and citizens, who experience the disease asymptomatic or with mild symptoms, are provided with medicines by state for treatment at home.

Medicine package includes Vitamin C, Vitamin D3, Magnesium, Zinc, Selenium, and Paracetamol. Mentioned medicines are defined for treatment of the disease and prevention of possible complications during the disease: “Territorial doctors daily observe condition of patients, who contracted COVID-19 and get treatment at home, for 14 days. If serious symptoms are found during the disease and aggravation is observed in general condition of the patient, the necessity of continuation of stationary treatment of the person is determined by the territorial doctor. At the same time, if a severe aggravation occurs in the condition of the patient, the patient or his (her) relatives should apply to emergent medical assistance through 103.”

It has been noted in the online interview of the Chairman of Main Health Department that the incubation period of COVID-19 is 21 days, besides other infectious diseases and that is why persons, who contracted the virus, are not allowed to leave residential place during the period.
