“Azerbaijan also suffers from water shortage. 70% of rivers are considered water source in Azerbaijan. Water level in the Caspian Sea and rivers have decreased due to decline in the amount of rainfall in recent years”, said Azerbaijan’s Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources while his speech in the 6th meeting of the Ministers of Agriculture of Economic Cooperation, APA reports.

According to him, water reserves have decreased by about 15% in recent decades: “The reserves may decrease by further 15% until 2050. Decrease of water leads to erosion and degradation of lands. Efficient use of water plays a positive role in prevention of climate change."
