On Sunday, The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) warned that a flock of space rocks is headed for Earth, ranging from 10 meters in diameter to an astounding 213, APA reports citing RIA Novosti.
To put things in perspective, the 213 meter asteroid (2020 XU6), is about twice as tall as London's Big Ben, and 2.5 times as tall as New York's Statue of Liberty.
2020 XU6 is currently is moving at speeds of 8.4 kilometers per second, or 30,240 kilometers per hour. Notably, the circumference of the Earth is 40,075 kilometers, meaning that it would take 2020 XU6 just over an hour to navigate around the entire circumference of the Earth.
Thankfully, the asteroid is set to miss Earth by around four million kilometers on Feb. 22.
2020 XU6 will be followed by another asteroid, with a diameter of 23 meters, which will be 5.6 million kilometers away from planet Earth.
Notably, this week NASA announced that five asteroids are set to pass by Earth, including a 10-meter asteroid, and a 61-meter asteroid.
They are set to shoot past Earth at a "safe distance of 1.6 million kilometers, and six million kilometers, respectively," according to Russia Today.
