Novruz events cancelled in Azerbaijan amid coronavirus threat

Operative Headquarters under the Azerbaijani Cabinet of Ministers has disseminated information, Operative Headquarters told APA.

Taking into consideration the increase of the infection of coronavirus disease in recent days, expansion of the geography of the virus, the World Health Organization has made an initiative on strengthening relevant preventive measures by the states, as well as postponing mass events.

Relevant prophylactic measures have also been strengthened in our country due to the fact of expansion of the virus around the world. In this regard, we inform that traditional Novruz festivities to be held in Baku and various regions of the republic in March are being canceled.

Based on consultations with experts and the recommendations of the World Health Organization, the Operative Headquarters urges different bodies not to hold mass events during upcoming days, and change the date of events which have already been scheduled.
