Officials comment on coronavirus detection on Georgian citizen passing through Azerbaijan - OFFICIAL

Press services of Ministry of Health and State Agency on Mandatory Insurance have issued a joint statement, Ministry of Health told APA.

Ministry of Health and State Agency on Mandatory Insurance of the Republic of Azerbaijan together with relevant state organizations carried out an immediate investigation based on the information that Georgian citizen found to be infected with COVID-19 virus who was traveling from Iran on February 25 and crossed the border from Azerbaijan and went to Tbilisi.

During the the investigation, the footage that reflects that person passing customs control was analyzed seriously, and it was defined that his temperature was normal while passing Astara border checkpoint, no suspicious case was recorded in his health.

It is possible that in accordance with the nature of the disease, the symptoms of the disease appeared within 10-12 hours traveling from the Astara border checkpoint to the Georgian border. Thus, The incubation period - between infection and showing any symptoms - lasts up to 14 day and during that time the symptoms of the disease may not appear.

All measures are taken in connection with this fact. The persons who contacted Georgian citizen passed the state border, as well as, customs, border, medical workers were identified and taken under medical control.
