Over 5,000 students from 84 foreign countries receive education in Azerbaijan

Along with Azerbaijani citizens, 5.5 thousand students from 84 foreign countries also receive education in the country’s higher education institutions, the State Statistics Committee told APA.

The citizens of Turkey, Iran, Russia, Georgia, Iraq and Turkmenistan Republic make up the majority of foreign students.

As of beginning of 2019/2020 academic year, the number of the Azerbaijani students receiving education in foreign countries at the expense of the public funds made up 807 persons. 44.6 percent of the Azerbaijani youths receiving education abroad are leavers of schools situated in Baku, and 55.4 percent are leavers of schools situated in various regions of Azerbaijan.

Most Azerbaijani students receive education in higher education institutions of Turkey, Russia, Hungary, China, the United Kingdom and Canada.
