Chair of the State Committee for refugee and IDP issues Rovshan Rzayev has met with Representative of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Azerbaijan, Guido Ambroso on February 5, Committee told APA.
It has been noted that consistent measures have been carried out for the improvement of household condition of ex IDPs under instruction of President, Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev during about 30 years, when conflict continued. First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva also pays special attention to solution of social problems of IDPs and takes care, does significant works in this field.
The guest was informed about the work, which has been implemented in the direction of evaluation of damage to our territories during occupation and implementation of important infrastructure projects. It was noted that demining process has been accelerated, and it is considered to prefer “smart city”, “smart village” conception during the restoration of the residential places. In accordance with the instruction of the head of state, Coordination Headquarters has been prepared in order to solve the issues in the liberated territories from the occupation in a centralized manner, and a Strategic Action Plan and Measurement Plan has been prepared for implementation of Great Return.
Committee chairman brought to attention that preparations are underway regarding the return of IDPs to their permanent residences. Implementing this process in accordance with international norms and ensuring the safe and dignified return of civilians is an important task.
Guido Ambroso noted that the organization which he represents is ready to cooperate regarding responsibilities on IDPs and refugees, it will do its utmost in this field.
