Control measures on food products imported into the country are continued by the Food Safety Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan (AFSA), AFSA told APA.

The Agency's inspectors reviewed a party of 6 tons of cinnamon products produced by Hanfimex Group in the Republic of Vietnam and imported to Azerbaijan by KAMSER TRADE GROUP LLC within the framework of control measures.

During the review, samples were taken from the imported product and submitted to the relevant laboratory of the Azerbaijan Institute of Food Safety.

As a result of the review, it was found that the share of cadmium (Cd), which belongs to the group of heavy metals, does not meet the requirements of applicable technical regulations.

The Agency prevented these products, which are useless for consumption, to enter the sale network.

Relevant measures are taken within the framework of legislation requirements now.
