Some prisoners and employees of Gobustan prison tested positive for coronavirus

As a result of the tests, 188 new cases were registered on August 29, and the number of coronavirus infections in the country increased to some extent, says Task Force under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan, APA reports.

The reasons for the increase were investigated and outbreaks were identified in the prison of the Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice in Gobustan settlement and in the Bayil production area of the AZFEN Joint Venture.

As a result of the examinations, it was revealed that two employees of the prison of the Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice in Gobustan settlement were infected with a coronavirus. Prison staff and prisoners with whom the officers were in contact were immediately isolated and tested for COVID-19. As a result, the results of COVID-19 tests were positive in 24 people, including 5 prison staff and 19 convicts.

The health of the people infected with the virus - good, most of them are asymptomatic and there are no complications. Currently, strict epidemiological control is applied in Gobustan prison and necessary measures are being taken to prevent the spread of the virus.

The next source of infection was identified in the Bayil production area of the AZFEN Joint Venture. The results of 20 test samples taken from the company's employees were positive. At present, preventive and anti-epidemic work is being carried out at the enterprise to stabilize the epidemiological situation.
