“Our struggle continues. The number of people infected with the coronavirus in the world has exceeded 94 million, and more than 2 million people have died till today, said Head of the Disease Control and Prevention Department of the Management Union of Medical Territorial Units (TABIB) Yagut Garayeva at the press conference of the Task Force under the Cabinet of Minister, APA reports.

Y. Garayeva said that 26,214 people were infected with the coronavirus on December 14-20 and 4,386 on January 4-10 before the tightened quarantine regime: “Now, the number of people who have already recovered is 3-4 times higher than the number of infected. As a result, many beds remain empty in the hospitals and intensive care units. On December 14, the infection rate reached 31 percent, which was a very high figure. Today, the infection rate has dropped to 5 percent. This is due to the tightened quarantine regime and greater compliance of citizens with the rules. Citizens use masks more”.

Note that the infection rate is the ratio of the number of infections detected during the tests to the number of tests.
