“Serological tests have long been used for diseases caused by microorganisms, including viruses. These are tests based on the detection of antiviral antibodies in the blood," Akif Gurbanov, Chairman of the Scientific Medical Committee under the Board of TABIB, said this today at a press conference of the Task Force under the Cabinet of Ministers, APA reports.
According to him, with the help of these tests, it is possible to determine whether there are antibodies to any microorganism in the human blood plasma.
“We need to know how many percent of the population has had this disease. If thanks to serological tests, it becomes clear that 50-60% of the population has been ill, we will be able to go for larger-scale mitigations, we will know that 2/3 of people have acquired immunity, they have antibodies. But if we get 15-20, 30 percent of the results, that is, there are many who have not yet been ill, there are no antibodies in the blood, then the quarantine will have to be tightened. The results will be announced shortly. "
