The Azerbaijani government is stepping up measures to impose travel restrictions at all levels and strengthen social isolation in order to stem the spread of coronavirus in the country, the Task Force under the Cabinet of Ministers told APA.

“For this purpose, the government suspended the entry of vehicles registered in the cities and districts of Azerbaijan as well as their passengers (except ambulances, emergency vehicles, and trucks) to Baku and Sumgayit cities, as well as Absheron district from 00:00 March 19 till March 29.

The passenger trains travelling from all the cities and districts of the country, except Sumgayit and Absheron, also remain suspended in Baku and Sumgayit cities, as well as Absheron district.

The passenger transportation from airports across the country to Baku is not allowed either.

In order to maintain trade links and provide people with foods and other basic necessities, the movement of all types of vehicles carrying foods and daily demand products is permitted,” the Task Force said in a statement.
