"Currently, the coronavirus pandemic is the greatest threat faced by us after the World War Two”, said the UN resident coordinator in Azerbaijan Ghulam Isaczai at the press conference organized today by the Task Force under the Cabinet of Ministers, APA reports.

The UN resident coordinator in Azerbaijan said the pandemic exerts negative influence on people’s health and economic activity: “Currently, this virus doesn’t target any specific regions, countries, it crosses all borders, infects elderly people and youths. Just for this reason, the UN Secretary General has called on each of us to show solidarity and to cooperate”.

G. Isaczai noted that the governments will not be able to achieve victory over this disease only by their own forces: “Each member of society bears responsibility in this matter. Each of us should join hands with each other and gain victory over this pandemic. We may contribute to this fight by wearing medical mask, observing social distance, paying attention to personal hygiene, and reducing social mobility”.

The UN resident coordinator in Azerbaijan brought to the notice that some people worldwide, as well as in Azerbaijan feel certain tiredness and want to return to normal life: “But we must know that if we don’t win victory over the virus, we will not be able to restore economy”.
