The activity for the provision of emergency psychological assistance by the ministry’s professional psychologists via “112” hotline telephone service has been organized by the Ministry of Emergency Situations beginning from April 8 in order to support the citizens suffering from psychological problems in the existing quarantine regime countrywide, the ministry told APA.

The specially trained psychologists of the MES providing uninterrupted services 24 hours per day on a rotational basis are rendering necessary psychological assistance to citizens. Up to 750 appeals have been received by the hotline service from Baku City and various regions of the country in connection with psychological assistance during the past one month of its activity. The appeals have been made mainly by the citizens becoming panic-stricken from the risk of infection of themselves and their family members with COVID-19 disease, experiencing anxiety for their elder parents, suffering from loneliness, lack of communication and lack of understanding, feeling confused about a face-to-face conversation with psychologists, showing psychosomatic symptoms and facing other psychological problems.

Note that the main purpose of the organization of psychological assistance is not to leave citizens alone with their psychological problems, to provide spiritual support to them, to help them in adaptation to the quarantine regime.
