Vaccine delivered to Azerbaijan within the COVAX platform

A vaccine against a new type of coronavirus (COVID-19) has been sent to Azerbaijan within the COVAX platform, APA reports.

The plane loaded with the vaccine landed at Heydar Aliyev International Airport.

Rosie Greaves, General Manager of Communications of the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization (GAVI), said in an online meeting with Zaur Aliyev, Chairman of the State Agency for Compulsory Medical Insurance, on March 30 that at the initial stage 84  000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine ("Vaxzevria") will be sent to Azerbaijan.  In addition, 218,790 doses of Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines will be distributed to Azerbaijan within 8 weeks.

Nnote that a total of 432,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine belonging to AstraZeneca are expected to be imported to the Republic of Azerbaijan by the end of May.
