Work begun on the treatment of a wastewater layer on Lake Boyuk Shor in Baku

In order to eliminate the complications on Boyuk Shor lake created by the water mixed with chemical substances during the fire broken out at Sobsan paint factory a few days ago, the relevant works have been launched by the instruction of the First vice-president of the Azerbaijan Republic Mehriban Aliyeva, press secretary of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources (MENR) Irada Ibrahimova told journalists, APA reports

"The works for the elimination of the contamination developed on Boyuk Shor lake have been taken under control by the first deputy Prime minister Yagub Eyyubov. The Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES), the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, and the law enforcement agencies are investigating the reasons for the occurred incident”, she said.

I. Ibrahimova noted that currently, the works for cleaning of thick slops cover developed on the surface of the lake have been launched by MES, MENR, and other concerned institutions.

The slops layer is collected and transported to the Hazardous Wastes Landfill by equipment and workforce of the Caspian Sea Basin Service of the MES.
