ADB forecasts 2.6% growth of working age population in Azerbaijan

Asian Development Bank forecasts that working age population in Azerbaijan will record an increase of 2.6 % by 2050, APA-Economics reports citing the bank’s latest publication entitled Asian Economic Integration Report 2019/2020: Demographic Change, Productivity, and the Role of Technology.

According to the report, Azerbaijan will have average workforce ages of at least 40 by 2050. Regarding other countries in the region, Armenia’s workforce will decline by 12.1% and Georgia’s indicator will fall by 17.4% by 2050.

It is noteworthy that considering the whole region, Afghanistan’s working age population will more than double (103.3%) by 2050 which is the highest predicted growth in Asia while the lowest prognosis is on the working age population in the Republic of Korea where an expected decrease is 33.7%.
