Elkhan Huseynov: “Water resources of Kur river are on the decline”

“Generally, climate changes have occurred on Earth in recent years. This situation, of course, affects Azerbaijan. In recent years, such tension has arisen in this case due to hot weather, at the same time, decrease in the precipitation, lack of snow cover,” Elkhan Huseynov, Head of Water Reservoir and Hydraulic Maintenance field of Azerbaijan Melioration and Water Management told reporters, APA reports.

According to him, in recent year water resources of Kur river are on the decline: “These also affect directly Mingachevir water reservoir. For instance, currently, the situation in the water reservoir is at 68-51 metres. This problem is the first time over the last 40 years. 150 thousand hectares area of Garabagh region, 130 thousand hectares sown area of Shirvan region are provided with irrigation water from this water reservoir via two main canals. At the same time, the sown areas of regions around the Kur are provided with the water through the pump installed on Kur.”
