Committee chairwoman: “Number of early marriages reduces in Azerbaijan”

"The highest indicator for the number of girls getting married before the age of 18 was registered in 2011 and amounted to 5 thousand and 138 persons”, the Chairwoman of State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs Hijran Huseynova said at the press conference held today, APA reports.
 
H. Huseynova reminded that the marriage age of girls had been increased to 18 in the legislature by the Committee’s initiative and said that the number of early marriages had reduced since 2012: “In 2018, this indicator equaled to 338. While in 2012, the number of girls becoming mother at the age between 15-17 amounted to 4 thousand 392 persons, in 2018, this indicator equaled to 2 thousand and 129 persons”.
