New school year begins in Azerbaijan

A new school year has begun in Azerbaijan, APA reports.

Today is the first school day in all schools of the country . According to the forecasts for the beginning of the 2019-2020 academic year, in general, 1,525,016 students will study in the general educational institutions of the republic in the new academic year.

714,259 students are girls, 810,757 are boys. It is predicted that 164,234 will be enrolled in the first grade of secondary schools, 122,043 in the 9th grade, and 82,782 students in the 11th grade.

Currently, there are 4447 schools operating in the country, of which 322 are primary schools, 3 307 are full secondary schools, 795 are general secondary schools, 16 are secondary specialized schools and 7 are part-time (evening) schools, including 59 lyceum schools, 49 lyceums, 15 gymnasiums and 14 boarding schools with integrated instruction.
