Ombudsman: “Azerbaijan become attractive country for migrants”

A meeting on “Migration processes and protection of migrants’ rights in Azerbaijan” has been held today, APA reports.

Ombusdman Elmira Suleymanova, Chief of State Migration Service Vusal Huseynov, Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Protection of Population of Azerbaijan Metin Kerimli, Chief of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Mission in Azerbaijan Vladimir Gjorjiev and Chairman of the Public Council under the State Migration Service Azar Allahveranov attended the meeting.

Speaking at the event Ombusdman Elmira Suleymanova noted that number of migrants, heading for Azerbaijan, has increased in recent years: “Economic increase and non-existence of religious discrimination in Azerbaijan are main reasons of the increase. It made Azerbaijan attractive for migrants.”
