World Food program could halt providing Azerbaijan IDPs with food in September, Logistics officer of WFP Azerbaijan Fuad Guseynov told APA.
According to him if the required allocation is not provided WFP will have to stop providing displaced persons in Azerbaijan with food. Fuad Huseynov said WFP project for Azerbaijan intended for 2006-2008 costs $15.6 million. Donor countries are less interested in financing projects for Azerbaijan because of its economic development. WFP is providing Azerbaijan with food of four sorts at the present time. WFP provides 154 thousand IDPs of Azerbaijan with 12kg flour, 1.2 kg flower oil, 900gr sugar, 300gr iodinated salt now. The organization spends $7 million each year on this purpose. WFP world’s greatest humanitarian organization provided Azerbaijan’s displaced persons with 142 thousand ton food of different sorts amounted to $108 million since 1994. /APA/
