Two years old Adnan Mahmud needs the help of the Azerbaijani people. He is suffering from the SMA (Spinal muscular atrophy) disease.
SMA is a progressive genetic motor neuron disease. This is a very rare disease, a gene-disease that is characterized by exacerbation and atrophy, and dystrophy of the muscles, leading the patient to destruction.
Adnan suffering from SMA was born on August 21, 2020. His results were sent to the team of the Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) Program at Boston Children's Hospital of the US. On May 25 of this year, a positive response was received from the institute about the possibility of injecting ZolgenSma to 21 months old Adnan.ZolgenSma is an adeno-associated virus vector-based gene therapy indicated for the treatment of pediatric patients less than 2 years of age and under 13.5 kg. The value of this treatment package makes up USD 2.200 000 (two million two hundred thousand). The mentioned amount is worth about AZN 3 740 000 (three million seven hundred and forty thousand manats).
Given that this amount is quite high and there is very little time left to apply this treatment to baby Adnan, we call on everyone to support him.
