"Although many European countries experience the rising incidence of monkeypox virus, Azerbaijan has not detected any case of this virus so far, no cases of the virus have been reported in Azerbaijan," said Deputy Director-General of the Hygiene and Epidemiology Center of the Ministry of Health Afag Aliyeva told APA.

According to her monkeypox is a very rare zoonotic viral disease. It can transmit to the human body through damaged skin, respiratory tract, and mucous membranes of the eyes, nose, and mouth.

Afag Aliyeva said that in comparison with chickenpox, the rash is deeper and more voluminous in this disease:

"The main difference between the symptoms of monkeypox and chickenpox is the enlargement of the lymph nodes (lymphadenopathy) during monkeypox."
