The protest action of eco-activists on the Lachin-Khankandi road was temporarily suspended at 18.00, APA reports.
The protestors on the Lachin-Khankendi road will leave the area part by part within a few days.
Their safety is ensured by Shusha police and employees of the Internal Troops.
In the next days, trees will be planted in the area.
Another meeting was held with a group of participants of the environmental action which is held on the Lachin-Khankandi road for 138 days, at the invitation of the state representatives of Azerbaijan in the first half of the day on April 28, APA reports.
10 eco-activists representing the participants of the action took part in the meeting held in the administrative building of the special representation of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Shusha district.
At the meeting Special Representative of President in the Shusha district, Aydin Karimov noted that a new situation arose due to the establishment of a border checkpoint on April 23 by the units of the State Border Service (SBS) on the sovereign territory of Azerbaijan, on the border with Armenia, at the beginning of the Lachin-Khankandi road. Therefore, the participants were once again offered to stop the action.
In response to repeated calls from state representatives, the representatives of the eco-activists said that there is a need to conduct general consultations with the participants of the action in order to consider the issue of stopping the action.
After the meeting, the eco-activists returned to the area where the humanitarian action was held to consult on the discussed issues.
After the consultation and discussion of the participants of the action, the decision made by the eco-activists was announced a little earlier, and the statement of the representatives of the non-governmental organizations, eco-activists and young volunteers who were the participants of the action was read.
"Taking into account the repeated requests made by state representatives, we – eco-activists and young volunteers decided to temporarily stop the protests on April 28, 2023 from 18:00," it was stressed.
