“Epidemiological situation is under full control in the country and if any leap occurs, relevant steps will be taken,” Azerbaijan’s Health Minister Teymur Musayev told journalists, APA-Economics reports.

According to him, the vaccination campaign against COVID-19 in Azerbaijan started on January 18, 2021, and was carried out successfully.

“The target group is people over 50 years old. Almost major complications take place in them. Almost 90 percent of them were vaccinated, they even got booster doses. When it comes to the general population, it is around 74 percent figure with the vaccination, which is a positive figure, it allows us to talk about herd immunity. Of course, coronavirus always brings new surprises, therefore, according to the recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO), we are doing necessary measures for autumn and we must bring ourselves to the second level of preparation. All necessary measures are being taken in this field and if we pass autumn without a leap, I hope that we can talk about the end of the pandemic,” the minister noted.
