Azerbaijan's MENR: Discussions held with the command of peacekeepers in Khojaly on illegal exploitation of minerals, a road map will be prepared-UPDATED

Employees of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the State Service for Property Issues under the Ministry of Economy and the "AzerGold" Closed Joint Stock Company moved to the Azerbaijani territories where the Russian peacekeeping forces are temporarily stationed and continued discussions with the command of the peacekeepers at the headquarters of the peacekeeping forces in Khojaly, APA reports citing Azerbaijan's Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources.

During the discussions, serious concerns and dissatisfaction were once again expressed regarding the illegal exploitation of minerals within the framework of illegal economic activities carried out in the territories of Azerbaijan, where the Russian peacekeeping forces are temporarily stationed, as well as the resulting environmental and other secondary consequences. In this regard, the importance of conducting monitoring, inventory of property and environmental research in fields where illegal exploitation of minerals is carried out and other relevant points was emphasized.

On December 3, around 18:00, the employees of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the State Service for Real Estate Affairs under the Ministry of Economy and "AzerGold" Closed Joint Stock Company returned to Shusha.

As a result of the discussions held at the headquarters of the peacekeeping forces in Khojaly, the preparation of a road map has been started with the participation of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Azerbaijan and other relevant institutions for carrying out works in the area on the mentioned directions of action.

At the inquiry the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Ministry of Defense appealed to the command of the Russian peacekeeping forces to send experts of the relevant institutions of our country to those areas, where they are temporarily stationed, for the purpose of investigating and monitoring the illegal exploitation of minerals and the resulting environmental damage in the territories of Azerbaijan, the Ministry told APA.

On December 3, 2022, at 11:00, the employees of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the State Committee on Property Issues under the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the "AzerGold" Closed Joint Stock Company approached the checkpoint of the Russian peacekeeping forces between the cities of Khankendi and Shusha to cross the territory.

Currently, the operation of a group of experts in the areas where the Russian peacekeeping forces are temporarily stationed is being discussed with the command of the peacekeeping forces in order to investigate and monitor the illegal exploitation of minerals and the resulting environmental damage.
